GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERNSHIP- (PAID)

 Description:

Methods Machine Tools, Inc. is looking for a qualified intern to join our marketing team. Our marketing department seeks an intern in the Boston area who can participate in various stages of graphic design.

This intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment, and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of marketing.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and update marketing collateral, including literature, signage, mailers, presentations, and advertisements
  • Markup, paste, and assemble final layouts, and prepare layouts for print
  • Assisting in the writing and editing of informational materials and reports
  • Shadow Graphic Designer
  • Assist with compilation of fact sheets, and marketing collateral design, Special Events Fact/Sell Sheets

 

Intern will gain experience and/or improve upon:

  • Graphic Design Skills
  • Marketing program support
  • Working in a team setting
  • Special projects

 

Requirements:

Methods Machine Tools, Inc. is looking for an undergraduate student in the Boston area who is majoring in Advertising, Graphic Design, Communications or Marketing. This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to take direction, have extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, and working knowledge of Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Adobe DreamWeaver. PowerPoint, Word and Excel experience is a bonus.

Qualifications/​Requirements:
At ease with Adobe Design tools such as Illustrator or Photoshop. Curious about learning and trying new design tools.

Knowledgeable about the fundamentals of graphic design, typography and interactive design

Likes to tinker with technology, possibly to be techie enough to learn how to create web animation using CSS (not a requirement but definitely a plus)

Job Description:
The Cambridge Arts Council views their internship program to be a growth opportunity for both the intern and the agency. Cambridge Arts Community Arts Assistant Interns will be under close supervision, guidance and mentorship of the Director of Community Arts and will work very closely with a variety of professionals in different fields, including government & city agencies, local businesses, cultural & community organizations, artists, and more. Interns will assist in the implementation of Cambridge Arts Community Arts Programs as needed. Tasks may include but are not limited to: communicating with artists and community members, creation and distribution of materials, conducting audience surveys, tracking proposals and activities, negotiating and creating contracts, scheduling and booking events, maintaining budgets, grant writing, sponsor cultivation, etc. It is a great opportunity for the intern to learn event production, marketing strategies, grant processes and procedures, industry standards, general office experience, etc. It is also a tremendous way to build valuable hands-on work experience in the field of arts administration. Cambridge Arts staff will work with the intern to identify a project area below to focus on based on his/her strengths and ambitions.
Qualifications/​Requirements:
– Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail
– Ability to work independently
– Very strong written and verbal communication skills
– Familiarity with Windows Operating Systems and MSOffice software
– Experience with graphic design programs (Photoshop, InDesign) highly desirable
– Arts background and office experience preferred
– Creativity & sense of humor

* Wicked fast skills moving from wireframing to high fidelity mockups
* Advanced understanding of design principles for intuitive interfaces and interaction flowsDESIRABLE HAVES:

* Hands-on experience with interactive prototyping methods and tools (paper prototyping, Pop, Invision, Proto.io)
* Some experience coding, mid-to advance knowledge of front-end web or mobile UI programming
